About CTOilTank
CTOilTank operates a Connecticut-focused referral directory for residential oil tank removal, replacement, and abandonment services. We do not remove or install oil tanks, do not employ contractors, and do not hold any CT contractor or DEEP UST registrations. We connect Connecticut homeowners and real-estate attorneys with independent licensed contractors through a pay-per-call affiliate network for buried UST extraction, basement tank replacement, leak diagnostics, soil sampling, CT DEEP UST notification, and real-estate-trigger tank closures.
How we make money
When a call results in a booked job, the provider's network pays CTOilTank a referral fee. You pay the contractor directly. The fee does not increase your quoted price.
How Connecticut oil tank licensing works
Connecticut regulates underground storage tanks under CGS ยง 22a-449, administered by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). Above-ground oil-tank work โ basement Roth or Granby installations, oil-burner service, line repairs โ must be performed by a CT-licensed plumber (P-1 or P-2) or oil-burner technician (B-1 or B-2) registered with the CT Department of Consumer Protection. Buried-tank removal is performed by contractors who carry both the appropriate CT license and DEEP UST contractor registration where applicable. Tank abandonment-in-place (when extraction is impractical) is allowed under DEEP Permit by Rule, which requires the tank to be pumped, cleaned, filled with inert material, and documented. Real-estate transfer triggers a CT DEEP UST notification requirement on the seller. Verify any contractor at eLicense.ct.gov and ask for their certificate of insurance before signing.
